I remember when Halloween was simple, fun and carefree.
When the scariest thing on the block was a rubber bat hanging from the porch or ghosts blowing in the wind 👻  We laughed and ran from house to house!

But Halloween has gotten bigger, scarier and even bloodier.

Maybe that’s why, this time of year, I feel the need to make my porch different.
To keep the smiles on my pumpkins and the glow in my windows warm.
To hand out candy but also kindness.

Because I still believe light belongs on porches.
That goodness can fill the night air.
That you can celebrate the season
without celebrating the dark.

And as long as I’m here, I will keep the pumpkins 🎃 lit. I will keep the fun in Halloween. I will also be a part of the community and my grandkids' "Trunk or Treat". 
Although I love my memories of my childhood, I will continue to grow and keep the fun in Halloween 🎃
